Manchester Police are continuing an investigation into a Wednesday afternoon accident that sent two people to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. 

Officers arrived to the Route 530 roadway near Pine Ridge Boulevard in the Whiting section around 12:23 pm to investigate a motor vehicle crash involving two cars that collided head-on.

Police say a 2000 Honda Accord was heading west on Route 530 and entered the eastbound lanes while trying to make a left onto Pine Ridge Boulevard when they collided head-on with a 2005 Nissan Altima.

Both cars sustained extensive front end damage.

The driver of the Honda Raymond A. Cappiccille Jr., 59, of Scotch Plains was uninjured in the crash but his passenger 86-year old Jean V. Cappiccille of Whiting was transported to Community Medical Center by Quality Medical Transport for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

The driver of the Nissan, 59 year old Kathleen A. Aurelio of Carteret, was transported via MONOC medivac to Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

The crash is being investigated by  Patrolman Ian Bole and Ptl. Jesse Hoydis of the Manchester Police Department’s Traffic Safety section.
