Two Car Crashes in Manchester Damage Utility Poles
Two car crashes in Manchester Township this weekend, have damaged utility poles and resulted in one arrest.
In one of the accidents, a Bayville woman is under arrest after police say her vehicle struck a utility pole on County Road 530 and Columbus Boulevard Saturday night.
42-year-old Maria Torres suffered a minor injury and is charged with Driving While Intoxicated and Drug Possession. Torres is being held at the Ocean County Jail in lieu of $7,500 Bail.
Also in Manchester, the second utility pole was struck in the early hours of Sunday morning. In that crash, police say a vehicle operated by 21-year-old Shantel Smith of South Toms River, struck a pole, snapping it into two pieces . The accident was on Route 571, near the intersection of Fairfield Street. Smith was taken to Community Medical Center and treated for head and neck pain.
