Trailer theft suspect arrested and charged by Stafford Township police

A social media tip from a resident leads to the arrest of a Toms River man accused of latching a 16-foot trailer to the back of his Ford F-350 pickup truck behind a township business and driving off last week.

48-year old Vilhelm H. Rasmussen IV of Toms River is being charged with third degree theft for taking the trailer from the back of Ocean International Market on Route 9 North in Manahawkin last Saturday.

Rasmussen, who also has a home in Tennessee, was arrested Wednesday night at the Wawa on Route 9 North, near Hilliard Boulevard.

The trailer was returned to its owner.
