A motor vehicle accident in Monmouth County ended when a tractor-trailer crashed into the front of a home, authorities said Thursday.

According to police, the crash took place on County Route 38/Wayside Road in Tinton Falls. Authorities said in a statement on Facebook that a tractor-trailer driven by Robbie Scott of Summit, Pa. was traveling northbound on the roadway when the driver allegedly hit another vehicle, driven by Kenneth Peterson of Brick, as he was stopped and waiting to make a turn.

The tractor-trailer driver attempted to avoid the car but was unsuccessful, striking the vehicle in the rear, police said. The impact caused the car to spin out and come to a stop in the southbound lane of the roadway. The truck then veered off the road onto the lawn of a nearby Wayside Road residence, finally stopping when it crashed into the brick front of the house.

Police say the driver of the tractor-trailer sustained injuries and was treated at the scene. No other injuries were reported.

Police are continuing to investigate the crash and are asking anyone who may have witnessed it or who has any information to contact Officer Christopher Duncan of the Tinton Falls Traffic Safety Unit at 732-542-4422.
