The police department is now fielding resumes for prospective new hires.

Applicants must be between age 18 and 35, with United States citizenship and New Jersey residency, with a valid New Jersey driver's license.

Completion of the basic course or alternate-route basic course for police officers is required. Applicants should either hold, or are eligible for, certification by the New Jersey Police Training Commission.

An appplicant should have a high-school diploma or equivalency certificate issued by the New Jersey Department of Education, and either an Associate's degree from an accredited college or university, or an honorable active-duty discharge from a branch of the U.S. military service,

Applicants must pass written and/or oral examinations, one or more oral interviews, and the written and physical exams administered by the Monmouth County Police Chiefs' Association, and also submit to background investigations and physical and psychological exams. .
