A tornado watch is in effect for portions of South Jersey until midnight.

Meteorologist Dan Zarrow says there is concern for strong thunderstorms to form as late afternoon temperatures rise that could bring strong gusty winds, hail and dangerous cloud-to-ground lightning anytime from 5 p.m. Monday afternoon until 2 a.m. Tuesday afternoon.

Camden, Salem, Cumberland and Gloucester counties  are all covered by the National Weather Service's watch, which calls for possible hail two inches in diameter and winds up to 70 miles per hour.

A tornado watch means conditions are favorable for tornadoes and severe thunderstorms.
