A female New York activist is in the Monmouth County Correctional Facility after refusing to pay court-ordered penalties for going topless on Spring Lake beach back in 2008. According to the Asbury Park Press and Patch.com, it's also day-2 of a hunger strike for 33-year-old Phoenix Feeley, previously known as Jill Coccaro, to further press the issue that women have the same constitutional right as men to go bare-chested in public.

An official from GoTopless.org is standing by Feeley, saying what she's doing is important and in step with the Fourteenth Amendment that says all citizens are to be treated equally.

Feeley previously won a $29,000 wrongful arrest settlement against New York City in 2007 after the state's highest court ruled women had a right to be topless in public.
