A little of this and a little of that.

I have always said that you are never alone in your thoughts and it’s good to know that I’m not the only one who feels the way I do about something.  On a couple of occasions I have driven by locations in which someone was set up on the side of the road and selling “I Survived Sandy” T-Shirts.

Honestly I don’t like them, even if the money is going to some kind of hurricane relief effort.  First of all there are many who did not really survive as five people died in the shore area because of the storm and countless others are without homes, cars, businesses…you name it.

I don’t think too many of them will be sporting one of those t-shirts.  By the way as much as I don’t like them what’s really appalling is that in some cases they are being sold almost within view of those who have suffered as a result of the storm.

I know others feel like I do and it would be worse to find out that those selling the shirts are doing so for their own benefit.

I can’t tell you how many times I have been watching a football game on television when my wife Jane asks the question, “How much time left in the game.”  If I respond with something like five minutes she will quickly counter with “no not on the clock. When will the game really end?”

We football fans know five minutes of game time is a lot longer. How much longer?  The average NFL game features just 10 minutes and 43 seconds of real football action.  Commercials account for nearly 60 minutes of the 3 plus hour TV show with the rest of the time used for replays, shots of teams huddling and more.  Thanks to afternoon personality Justin Louis for the info.

Frank Gelormini of Toms River was perplexed when he looked at the latest ShopRite flyer and noticed than in addition to the customary free turkey or free ham that this year you can also get a “tofurkey.”   Yes a combination of tofu and turkey which by the way can be over-roasted or baked.

Frank thinks back to the old days and does not believe Miles Standish and Pocahontas had “tofurkey” on their menu and I agree.  They actually went to Jersey Mike’s and split a turkey sub.
