DALLAS — It was a thoroughly dominating performance by Toms River's Frankie Edgar at UFC 211 in Dallas. By the time his fight with Yair Rodriguez was done, Edgar had his hand raised in victory and Rodriguez had his eye swollen completely shut.

In his post fight interview with UFC commentator Joe Rogan, Edgar could have focused his attention on a potential upcoming title fight after the win. Instead, his thoughts were with another member of the Jersey Shore fighting community.

"I've got to send out a heartfelt message out to my teammate Nick Catone and his wife Marjorie. They woke up Saturday and their infant son Nicholas passed away in the night," he said. "I can't imagine what they're going through and that one's for you."

Catone, who made a name for himself in the mats of Brick Memorial and Rider University before fighting in the UFC now owns the popular Nick Catone MMA and fitness in Brick with his wife. His son was just 20-months-old when he died, and Edgar's comments were just a small fraction of the support that has poured in for Catone and his family over the past few days on social media.

According to ESPN.com, the second round TKO win could put Edger next in line for a title shot against the winner of the upcoming featherweight bout between Jose Aldo and Max Holloway. Edger has fought Aldo twice before taking losses both times.
