Before tonight's tree lighting ceremony, students from the Toms River Regional School District will help decorate the trees.

Normally Toms River Public Works employees decorate the trees, but this year 250 students from the town's schools have been chosen as part of the town's 250th Anniversary Celebration.

Today's decorating party starts at 10am at Town Hall, highlighted by music from the Toms River High School South and Washington Street Elementary School choirs.

Cookies and hot chocolate will be served in the Lomell Room, and Santa Claus will visit for a quick visit before coming back in the evening for photos with kids.

The ornaments the students will be placing are ones they have created to help commemorate the 250th anniversary of the founding of Toms River, and the decorating party is part of the kickoff of the township's yearlong celebration.
