Toms River Police Phones Down – Temporarily

If you want to call the police or municipal court in Toms River for the next few hours, it'll be a roundabout way while upgrades are installed.

Emergency calls are going straight to the Ocean County Sheriff's Department communications center. Police are asking anyone with a non-emergency matter to hold off until around 3 PM. The installation began around 10 AM.

The routing will not affect response times, police said. A spokesman said that it's a scheduled upgrade, though he did not elaborate on the nature of the tech improvements.
