Social media again helps Toms River police nab a hit-and-run suspect who was wanted for allegedly smashing into a parked car earlier this week.

Toms River Police Department spokesman Ralph Stocco said a concerned citizen pulled into the Wawa at 1166 Fischer Boulevard Wednesday morning and realized he was parked next to the red Jeep Cherokee that matched the description he saw on social media and immediately phoned police.

When Traffic Officer Adam Koeppen arrived, he saw 21-year-old Michael A. Dymond try to throw packets of Suboxne on the ground, according to Stocco. Dymond, had addresses in Manchester and Toms River, and was issued summonses for careless driving, failure to maintain lane, failure to report an accident, leaving the scene of an accident, as well as numerous equipment violations. He was also arrested and charged for the possession of Suboxone paraphernalia.

Dymond is accused of hitting a 2013 Mazda that parked in its driveway on Oak Ridge Parkway overnight Sunday into Monday, then fleeing the area. Authorities had posted photos of a model similar to the Jeep Cherokee they believed was involved.
