Meet Billy. And his precious dog Baunji.

I have been following Baunji's story on Facebook and have become quite attached to this precious dog and the love that Baunji's owner Billy has for him.

Billy, who is an animal control officer in Ocean County, rescued Baunji a couple of years ago from an NYC high kill shelter. Baunji was a perfect dog but, in an overcrowded shelter, was scheduled to be euthanized.

Billy has a miraculous story as to how he was able to save Baunji's life from the shelter, and now man and dog are the best of friends and Baunji's even got two doggie siblings that he has bonded with.

Billy's great love for Baunji knows no bounds, and, in tears, Billy recently started requesting prayers on Facebook when he found out his beautiful pet had cancer. Billy would not (and will not) give up on this animal.

Baunji had to have a leg amputated and came through the surgery like a champ. He's been on chemo and has continued to thrive from Billy's love.

Billy refuses to give up on 6-year old Baunji, even though the oncologists have to further treat this amazing dog. Despite the high costs associated with the chemo treatments and tests, despite a further diagnosis of possibly more cancer found, Billy says that Baunji is worth the fight.

Billy says that when he rescued Baunji, it was for life. And he will fight tooth and nail for Baunji to have that long life.
