Toms River driver injured in morning rush crash

TOMS RIVER - A township driver sustains injuries, after a crash this morning that catapulted her sport utility vehicle into a tree.

Andreana Baruk, 34, was hospitalized after the collision on Whitesville Road near Sunset Avenue, according to police. Another driver, Hui Jiang, of Philadelphia, was ticketed for failure to stop or yield.

Officers and medical teams were dispatched to the intersection at about 9 AM. Police surmised that Baruk, driving a 2002 Lincoln Navigator, was northbound on Whitesville when Jiang entered from Sunset, intending a left turn in a 2016 Acura.

The force of the impact sent the SUV off the road and into the tree, police said. They did not elaborate on the Jiang's condition, the extent of damage to his car., road conditions, or whether there were any suspicions of distracted or impaired driving..

Traffic Officer David Bartoshek investigated the collision.
