Toms River Couple Surprises Alleged Burglar

A Lakehurst man is facing charges after police say a Toms River couple came home Thursday morning to find him burglarizing their house.

Officers say Kevin M. Monahan, 21, was found in the woods near Saint Andrews Church after fleeing the Todd Road residence. He allegedly had an item stolen from the home in his possession and is charged with Burglary, Theft, and Criminal Mischief. Monahan was transported to the Ocean County Jail on $40,000 bail with no 10% option.

North Dover Elementary School initiated a Shelter in Place during the search as a precaution, but no students were in danger.
