Natacha Perez, 35, is also charged with a third-degree count of child endangerment and third-and-fourth-degree weapons counts, according to information from the office of acting Monmouth County Prosecutor Chris Gramiccioni.

She was processed and placed in the Monmouth County Correctional Institution on $300,000 bail, with no option for release on posting of 10 percent. The alleged victim is said to be in stable condition.

Tinton Falls police were the first to respond to a report of a stabbing on Howard Avenue, finding that the unidentified 29-year-old had been hospitalized before their arrival, authorities said.

Monmouth and Tinton Falls investigators learned that Perez had allowed the man and his two children to spend the weekend in her home, then became embroiled in a heated argument with him Monday, authorities said.

He left at Perez's demand, and took his children to the street to await a ride, after which she allegedly emerged from the house with two large knives, authorities said.

Perez allegedly threw one knife at him and pierced his chest, then lunged with the second, but was disarmed and subdued by others at the scene, police said.

If convicted of attempted murder, Perez would face up to 20 years in prison, and would be required to serve 85 percent of the time, or 17 years, under New Jersey's "No Early Release Act" (NERA). She would also be subject to five years of parole supervision.

The third-degree counts carry possible sentences of up to five years, and the fourth-degree weapons charge has a maximum prison term of 18 months on conviction.
