Those creepy crawly critters that every outdoors person and pet owner fears look to be making an early impact on our area this year.

You might remember last year when I talked about finding more than the usual share of ticks both on my dog and myself, and it's looking like this year is going to be just as bad, if not worse.

News outlets as far North as Boston are reporting that a record-warm winter is contributing to the early emergence of the disease carrying terrors.

Of course, the best thing to do is to wear tick repellent, both for yourself and your pets when you go out. But obviously we're not going to cover ourselves in "Off!" every time we take a step outside, so it's always a good idea to do a thorough "tick check" when you come back in from being outdoors in grass and wooded areas.
