The Garden State Parkway and Atlantic City Expressway were both slow by early afternoon as the day started dreary with clouds and drizzle for much of the morning that never lifted. The rain also forced the cancellation of the Lakewood BlueClaws season finale at FirstEnergy Park.

The slow moving storms, meanwhile, continue to pop up and cross New Jersey.

Earlier, a line of strong storms is moving across Hunterdon County this morning with a strong cell moving east along Interstate 78 with heavy rain falling a rate of 2 inches an hour prompting the National Weather Service to issue a Flood Advisory until 11:15 a.m for Morris, Somerset and Hunterdon counties

The storm also has 30-40 MPH winds and frequent cloud-to-ground lightning.

A separate Flood Advisory is in effect for Altantic, Cape May and Cumberland counties until 12 noon for a storm affecting south Jersey with heavy rain of up to an inch per hour that could lead to localized flooding on roadways.

There is also fog around much of the area especially around lakes and rivers.

Newark, LaGuardia and JFK all have 15 minute delays.

The storms will likely continue tonight as a cold front will approach New Jersey on Tuesday to bring the humid weather to an end and bring in sunny, dry weather for the rest of the week.

A number of storms developed on Sunday morning and again in the afternoon with sudden downpours and localized flooding.
