Flooding and areas of high water continue following heavy rain early Sunday morning along with thunderstorms and warm temperatures.

Around an inch-and-a-half of rain fell across South Jersey on Saturday night according to the National Weather Service with close to two inches reported in Hunterdon, Mercer and Middlesex countiues, two inches was reported in Freehold and Colts Neck in Monmouth County.

Meteorologist Dan Zarrow said early on Sunday afternoon the worst of the rain is over.

"Parts of the Jersey Shore, especially in Monmouth and Ocean counties, saw moderate flooding this morning. Flood waters will continue to subside, and now our attention turns to the next blast of Arctic air coming our way tonight and tomorrow," Zarrow said.

Several exit ramps from Route 18 in North Brunswick were closed according to New Jersey Fast Traffic along with ramps off Route 280 in Newark, Route 208 in Wyckoff. Plus, lanes on the Garden State Parkway in Bloomfield, Route 17 in East Rutherford were closed off due to high water.
