Quick! Stock up on bread, milk, and eggs, there's a snow storm coming!

I never understood why those were the first things that people automatically stock up on when snow is in the forecast.

Sure, it's prudent to have plenty to sustain your family if you could be housebound for a day or more, but why bread, milk, and eggs?

I would think that dry goods that can be kept for a good long time and that are easy to prepare would make more sense to stock up on; like dry pasta, oatmeal, that kind of stuff.

But bread, milk, and eggs? What are you going to make, snow storm French toast?

What do you do to prepare before a storm? Did you stock up today? Be honest!
