I truly believe that rescuing a homeless adult dog is one of the best ways to get a pet. There are so many advantages and rewards, but there are also questions. Especially with strays. The most obvious question - what kind of dog is it anyway?

After having my dog, Sydney, for about 7 years. I decided that it was time to find out.

There's been some debate over the years. You can tell by looking that she's part Cocker Spaniel, but the other part(s) was up for debate - lab? Golden Retriever? Poodle? So I went ahead and got The Wisdom Panel Mixed Breed Identification Kit, swabbed the inside of her cheek, and sent it out to the lab.

I just got the results 10 minutes ago...drum roll please...

So there you go! Everyone who guessed Cocker Spaniel and Poodle was mostly right. The most surprising part to me is the fact that she's more Poodle than Cocker Spaniel. I always felt like she looked more Cocker than anything.

So there is it, the mystery is solved! If you've wondered about your mutt, I highly recommend Wisdom Panel, the process was easy and I got the results much more quickly than the 3-4 weeks that they state in the kit. Find out what your mystery best friend is quickly and easily!
