If you've driven past 73 Main Street in Toms River today, you may have noticed that a new sign has gone up in the window of the storefront that's been vacant since Meanbean Burritos and Beyond wrapped up operations just a little less than a year ago.

The sign touts the impending arrival of Island Creole Kitchen, and teases us with the tagline "flavors of the Caribbean".

While the sign doesn't have a specific date that we'll be able to enjoy some gumbo right here in downtown Toms River, sources tell me that the plan is to open in February.

Now, of course as with opening any new business, especially restaurants that require specialized equipment, there are always possible delays that could pop up. But I can assure you that I am actively working on the story and I'll have more details for you shortly!

In the meantime, we can look forward to warming up this winter with some Creole home cooking right here in Ocean County in the coming weeks!
