She's my best friend and my most constant companion, but her age is starting to catch up with her, and that's presenting some challenges. I'm of course talking about my dog, Sydney, who's gotten plenty of mentions on this blog in the past.

From the quest to figure out exactly what she actually is, to her status as our unofficial mascot during Hurricane Sandy, Syd has had almost as much blog exposure as the rest of the staff here at WOBM.

As these things go, though, Sydney isn't a young pup anymore, and it's starting to show.

I would say, within the past 6 months or so, I can really tell that she's slowing down quite a bit. I can definitely tell that she has a bit more difficulty getting around (and she is on medication for arthritis), and lately it seems that she gets a little confused and wanders around the house without settling down and relaxing like she used to.

Thankfully, her latest full checkup at the vet showed that she's in great health. But, of course, we can't stop the aging process all together. We can only make them as happy and comfortable as we can.

She still has her moments - it almost never fails that when I first get home from work and take her out, she has a burst of energy and runs around like a puppy (which you can watch here). I'll never get tired of that.
