It's been just over 3 months since the devastating fire at Caffrey's Tavern in Lacey Township, an Ocean County landmark.

After a setback just weeks after the fire, good news finally came earlier this week.

At the end of September, Lacey Township denied the zoning application from Caffrey's, putting the rebuilding plans on hold.

But according to my colleague Andy Chase, that denial was reversed at a zoning board meeting this past Wednesday.

It came down to some pretty detailed discussions of the legal definitions of "partial destruction" and whether the Caffrey's situation fit that definition or not.

It's a lot more involved than I can try to explain, but you can click here for the whole, detailed story.

In the end, the important part is that reversal gives Caffrey's the go-ahead to move forward with their rebuilding plans.

Once a timetable becomes more clear, we'll be sure to keep you up to date!
