19-year-old Kyriph Wallace of Lakewood and a driver he hit head-on were flown to Jersey Shore University Hospital in Neptune. Wallace suffered internal injuries and leg fractures. 74-year-old Frank Dreifus of Whiting suffered head and back injuries, police said.

The crash caused a chain reaction with two other vehicles. Both of those drivers, 70-year-old David Rockhill of Whiting and 49-year-old Elma Evans of Brick Township, were not seriously injured.

The accident remains under investigation. The crash forced the closure of Route 70 for about four hours between Manchester Boulevard and Beckerville Road.
