Township authorities said they were notified around 7:52 PM of someone flinging himself onto moving cars in the area of Lighthouse Drive and Whitecap Avenue.

According to reports, the teen approached police as they arrived, "screaming incoherently," and turned aggressive. He was cuffed and placed in the back of a squad car, police said, and began smashing the rear passenger window with his head until he shattered it and clambered through the opening and onto the street.

While being subdued again, police said, the teen told them he was under the influence of "acid and marijuana." He was flown to Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune for treatment of injuries.

Police said the teen was listed as stable and cleared for release this morning. They're not finished probing the circumstances that led to the incident.
