Six Flags Great Adventure's sister theme park outside of Chicago has paid off a bet over the Mets-Cubs series and changed its name to "Six Flags Great Mets."

“We were so confident that this was the year for the Chicago Cubs that we amped up our wager with Six Flags Great Adventure,” said park president Hank Salemi. “Unfortunately, we will have to bear these two shameful renames of our park and roller coaster for the remaining weekends of Fright Fest. There’s always 2016.”

Great America's Goliath roller coaster will be known as GoMets for the remainder of Fright Fest.

The Mets swept the Cubs in the National League playoff series to earn their way into the World Series. They'll play the winner of the Toronto BlueJays-Kansas City Royals series.

“We are extremely grateful to the Mets for winning the National League pennant,” said Six Flags Great Adventure President John Fitzgerald. “Manager Terry Collins and MVP Daniel Murphy kept us from having to rename our park and Kingda Ka in honor of the Cubs. If we had a park in Kansas City or Toronto, we are sure that the Mets would help us win a bet in those cities as well. Go Mets!”

Six Flags Great Adventure is hanging banners in the park supporting the Mets for this weekend.
