If it rains on Wednesday 10/30 for trick or treat night in Toms River, or on Thursday 10/31 for the Toms River Halloween Parade, here are the official plans.
Traditionally, trick-or-treating in Toms River happens the day before Halloween on October 30, with the massive Halloween Parade in downtown TR Halloween night, October 31. On occasion in the past, dates have changed. So let's all get on the same page for this year.
The parade is not broadcast live on television, but we expect that it will air throughout the week on the Toms River Regional Schools TV station, TV21. The parade's coverage will be hosted by our own Justin Louis and Marianne Levy from our sister station WOBM-AM.
Tradition for Toms River (and a few surrounding towns like Beachwood) says that trick or treating takes place the day before Halloween becuase of Toms River's parade. It's how it's always been (as long as the parade takes place on Halloween itself). However, should Toms River and Beachwood keep trick or treat on Halloween instead?
And so the great experiment has apparently failed and as a result Halloween in Toms River and some of the surrounding towns will return to normalcy, if that’s what you want to call it.
