You don't have to quite batten down the hatches with the warm weather here and mosquitoes, ticks, and other insects and bugs settling in around here, but, there are some things you can do to stay protected from them.

There is not much that will spark panic in a Mom more than spotting a tick. Do they not send shivers up your spine? They are gross, unsuspecting and can make us really sick. It's the first day of tick season by the way...April to mid-to-late October is when they are in full swing. Experts are predicting that the tic population in New Jersey to be off the charts this year. Well super.

I'm so glad I went to the doctor when I did. This is a serious illness that you should know about.

Sorry to sound like Debbie Downer but the downside to enjoying our beautiful outdoor parks, trails and gardens is that we have to check for ticks.  It's officially tick season in New Jersey.  I was reminded of that earlier when I noticed a tick in my hair...

Mosquitoes, sand gnats, ticks, sting bugs and everything else in between...The bugs are bad this year here at the Shore.
