A 56-year-old Pennsylvania woman has been charged with stealing $29,000 in insurance money from a New Jersey widow who hired her to repair damage to her home caused by Superstorm Sandy, the attorney general said Thursday.
Charges against five new individuals accused of filing for federal Superstorm relief under false pretenses brings the total in the New Jersey Attorney General's office to a half-hundred in the nearly two years since the first allegations were lodged.
Starting May 1, Sandy-surviving homeowners looking for help in New Jersey's Housing Recovery Centers (HRC) will have two fullly operating options, Freehold and Newark. Satellite offices will continue in Toms River and Atlantic City.
