As I was heading over to The Sawmill before my show from the Jersey Central Power & Light Seaside Park Boardwalk Studio, I saw a fantastic sign - the boardwalk is open!

Yesterday was an absolutely perfect day to kick off the summer at Jenkinson's Breakwater Beach! Not only did we have dozens of winners having a blast with their families, but one listener went home with $1,000! Watch the grand finale:

As June is quickly ticking away on the calendar, the 4th of July is coming up before you know it. This year it falls on a Friday, so it's the perfect chance to take a nice long weekend.

I've talked before about my guilty pleasure summer TV show - "Big Brother". As a new season kicks off tonight, we'll have a local to root for.

As we roll into summer here in Ocean County, we've had an amazing stretch of days, with comfortable temperatures, low humidity, and clear skies. But today, we're getting a taste of the other kind of weather that we can expect this time of year - hot, humid and muggy.

As we're officially in summer here in Ocean County, many of us will be rolling out that classic childhood toy - the Slip'N Slide. While it can be fun to add your own flair and obstacles to the backyard water slide, this group has taken things to a whole new height. Literally. As we're only hours away from summer 2014 and we're kicking off our summer of broadcasts from Seaside Park, the iconic boardwalk is making great progress to getting back up and running.

Stories about adventures (and misadventures) at New Jersey's Action Park have become legends over the past 20+ years. After all of the reminiscing, (and possibly therapy), the famous (and somewhat infamous) water park is officially reopening in only days.

Last summer we made the Seaside boardwalk our second home with live, on-location broadcasts all summer long. This year, we're going to be doing the same thing, and it all kicks off this week.

If I had to pick a favorite time of year, it's definitely now - late spring and early summer. The temperatures are usually comfortable (ok, today is a bad example of that), and the days are nice and long. The only downside - bugs. Lots of them. Many people have their own strategies for dealing with outdoor pests.
