Spring 2016

With Father's Day very quickly approaching on June19th (yes, that's next Sunday already!), I want to know how you treat your dad to a special day here in Ocean County.

I don't know about your house, but it was only about a week ago that my heat was kicking on in the morning. The last few days, it's been the air conditioning in the afternoon!

I've talked before about my love for the night sky, and while you'd normally have to get far away from city and suburban light pollution for unique views, over the next few days a rare opportunity is visible throughout Ocean County.

I'm not here to wade into the political quagmire that is the climate change debate, but you have to admit that the past 9 months or so have been really strange where weather is concerned.

Just two weeks ago we told you about the early and intense invasion of ticks throughout the Jersey Shore. Well, not to be the bearer of bad news, but another nuisance pest is making a return to our area right now.

As you probably know by now, for the 9th year here at the Jersey Shore, my mother has been coming in to the studio on the Friday before Mother's Day to co-host my show with me. We always have a lot of fun. It's my way of saying, "thanks Mom!" and a fun opportunity for her to join me at work for the day. So here are some highlights from our pre-Mother's Day special, 2016:

As we get closer to the first weekend of May 2016, it's hard to believe that today, May 5th, marks the halfway point through spring!

I don't know about you, but the last two or three days I've had an especially itchy throat and eyes. Yes, it is allergy season. But on top of that, the tree pollen has been pretty high the last few days.

Yesterday, we talked about the fact that this is looking like an almost perfect early spring weekend in Ocean County. So, how best to take advantage of that locally? Well, we have some ideas!  

I don't want to jinx anything, but as we're getting closer to the weekend, it's looking to be the first truly perfect weather weekend of spring 2016. So how do you plan to spend it?
