I openly admit that I am a heavy TV viewer. I have two TiVo DVRs that usually have a good number of shows waiting for me each evening. But the last two weeks or so have been pretty quiet.
If you ask TV critic Alan Sepinwall, he'll tell you that we're in the midst of a television Renaissance. But for every really good TV show that I see, I feel like there's an equally bad (if not worse) one to cancel it out.

The Fall TV season is underway, with the usual slate of new shows, and there are already some that are standing out. Both in the good way and the bad way.
Every once in a while, a sitcom is a culture impacting triumph. The 70's had All in the Family. In the 80's, Cheers ruled. And in the 90's sitcom heyday we had "Must see TV" with shows like Seinfeld and Friends, while Will & Grace bridged the late 90's to early 2000's.
When I think about it, I've always liked odd TV shows. I was a big fan of The X-Files back in the day. These days Dexter is one of my can't miss shows. And then I saw American Horror Story.
