Join Hometown Heroes For A Special Screening of "Heart of the Shore"

Potential buyers will have a chance to talk face-to-face with the developers of a new single-family neighborhood in Seaside Heights.

It all started only two days after Superstorm Sandy - I got a text message from a friend with a picture of a heartwrenching note. It was written by a victim of Sandy, only known as "Mike". From reading the note, it looked like Mike hadn't survived. It was literally his goodbye message to his father and the world. And then things got really dramatic.

It was one of the most poignant and memorable stories to come in the wake of Hurricane Sandy - the story of Mike Iann, the "Miracle Survivor". We were the first to bring you the original story of Mike, and the note that he left to say goodbye when he thought that the storm would overpower him. Coming up next week, his story will be the focus of a TV special.

Legislation authorizing $1.28 billion in state financing for drinking water and wastewater improvement projects will also allocate $355 million for resiliency and protection projects for Sandy-damaged infrastructure.

Shore communities are still hurting, but help is on the way.

Hurricane Sandy still haunts New Jersey residents, but not in the way you might expect.

A year and a half after Superstorm Sandy slammed New Jersey, the state Department of Environmental Protection remains focused on programs to rebuild and replenish beaches and sand dunes, buy out homes that are repeatedly flooded, assist homeowners in high-risk areas to elevate their homes, and improve waste water and water treatment infrastructure.

Hurricane Sandy blew through Ocean County 16 months ago. While our stories may not be in the news as much as they were before, those of us who are here every day know that there are still raw, open wounds from the disaster.
