Toms River is about to get a whole lot cleaner with the township receiving a $209,273.00 grant from the NJ-DEP as part of New Jersey's Clean Communities Program.
When my Daughter was younger we were swimming in Ship Bottom when we were caught in a rip tide. Very scary and I must admit I did panic because she was little and I was having trouble getting her out, lucky for us Ship Bottom Lifeguards were out on boards helping swimmers and they towed us in. That incident left me with a new respect for rip tides and the need to know what to do if caught in one.

My favorite beach is Ship Bottom, LBI. We have been going there with the kids for 25 years now and it's tradition and we've always loved the location. We get our badges every year and I have quite the colorful collection from over the years.
I often go around and take photos at our area beaches and I often see litter and debris. I do think that we as a society have gotten better at not polluting, but I think we still need some work. It's simple .... if you brought it, take it with you and properly dispose of it!

So Labor Day has passed, the kids are back at school, most people have wrapped up their summer vacation plans, but those of us who live here in Ocean County know one important thing - beach and boardwalk season isn't over.
Imagine going to the beach, and your child or someone you know is in a wheel chair and can't go any further than the dunes or a little past the dunes. They can't make it to the water, it's too tough to get through the sand with their wheel chair or walker. That's where some Ocean County Moms started a fantastic fundraiser and they need your help.
