Brinson's bail was set at $250,000, cash only, in Ocean County Superior Court. He was placed in the county jail in Toms River.

Akers died in the predawn hours last October 16. Investigators from several agencies collected evidence with the aim of linking the drug with a dealer.

Brinson was identified as a suspect in the course of the probe. The final link was confirmation by the county Medical Examiner that Akers's death was drug-induced.

U.S. Marshals found Brinson in Asbury Park on March 6, authorities said.
