An arrest is made in the fatal Asbury Park stabbing of a Neptune man this week. The Monmouth County Prosecutors Office says 24-year-old city resident Tyreek Williams was charged in connection with the murder of 19-year-old Prize Johnson during an altercation on Ridge Avenue Monday night.

According to a press release, Williams faces first degree Murder, third degree Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose and fourth degree Unlawful Possession of a Weapon counts in connection to Johnson's death.

An investigation determined that Williams encountered the victim on the 400 block of Ridge Avenue where an altercation occurred culminating with the fatal stabbing of Johnson Monday at around 9:58 Monday evening. They also learned that Johnson was given assistance getting back to his Washington Village apartment by friends where he died from his injuries.

Williams is being held in the Monmouth County Correctional Institution on $1,022,500 bail with no 10% option set by Monmouth County Superior Court Judge O'Brien Kilgallen. Williams has his first court appearance Friday, January 9, at 1:30 pm.

If convicted of Murder, Williams faces a minimum of 30 years in a New Jersey state prison without parole and a maximum sentence of life imprisonment, subject to the "No Early Release Act".
