Barnegat police allege that on November 25, Kevin Nagle of the township accepted delivery of one that was actually destined for Las Vegas, and still had them when they arrested him on weapons charges Wednesday.

Nagle faces counts of theft by failure to make proper disposition, unlawful possession of handguns, and unlawful possession of rifles.

The package from Connecticut-based Ruger that township police said was actually destined for a dealer in the Hard Rock Hotel.

Nagle was placed in the Ocean County Jail in Toms River in default of $100,000 bail. He was given no option for release on payment of 10 percent.

The crate contained a Ruger .44 magnum Super Blackhawk revolver, Ruger 10/22 .22 caliber rifle, Ruger GP 100 .357 magnum revolver, Ruger SR19II .45 caliber pistol, Ruger American .223 rifle, Ruger Single-Nine .22 caliber revolver, Ruger Mark III target .22 caliber pistol, and Ruger Precision 6.5mm Creedmoore rifle, authorities said.

Police were alerted Wednesday by a United Parcel Service investigator to the inadvertent delivery to a house on Deer Run Drive South.

A worker at the UPS Meadowlands sorting depot saw that the package was damaged, and affixed the wrong shipping label in repackaging, police said.
