Strongarm Robbery Suspects Sought in Wanamassa

Two men suspected of mugging a food delivery worker in Monmouth's Ocean Township Tuesday night remain outside the law. Police have issued descriptions in an attempt to track them down.

According to investigators, the victim was delivering an order from a Chinese restaurant in the Wanamassa section to the Wanamassa Gardens Apartments on Allen Avenue, around 8:17 PM.

Police said the pair punched the victim to the ground, taking the meal along with cash and the victim's wallet and iPhone. They're said to have run across Route 35 toward Ocean Plaza, entering an older, white sedan that contained a third person. The car was last seen tearing across the Ocean Plaza parking lot toward Sunset Avenue, police said.

The strongarm robbery victim claimed minor injuries and refused medical attention, said police.

One suspect is described as a heavy-set Hispanic man with a black jacket. The other is described as a black male wearing a black-colored half-ski mask.
