According to Sheriff Shaun Golden's office, two members of the Fugitive Warrant unit were serving notices this morning when they spotted Richard Stridiron, 53, driving and gabbing away on a cell phone.

Authorities say Stridiron was behind the wheel of a gray Toyota Camry that had been reported stolen in Ocean Township.

Stridiron stopped the car on Washington Avenue and bolted. Sheriff's Officers Ralph Irizzary and Manuel Rosario took off in pursuit and overtook him.

Stridiron is charged with theft of a vehicle, eluding, and resisting arrest, and multiple traffic violations. He was placed in the Monmouth County Correctional Institution in Freehold on $35,000 bail.
