The Garden State Parkway has been going through a lot of changes in the last few weeks. In addition to the new interchanges, you may have also noticed an increase in Parkway patrols.

I first noticed about two weeks ago. On my daily commute, I pass a number of the "Official Use Only" breaks in the grassy median, at many of them, State Troopers were stationed with an eye on the traffic.

Normally I'll see one or two a week, but in the last two weeks I've seen at least one Trooper a day.

While the heightened presence of police may make some nervous, in the end, it's a good thing. With Summer in full swing here in Ocean County, it's good to know that Parkway drivers will be held accountable for dangerous driving.
