If you prefer to not pay the tolls on the Atlantic City Expressway, you might get to meet a State Trooper soon.

The South Jersey Transportation Authority, the agency that runs the Expressway, says State Troopers are now working with the SJTA's Information and Toll Technology and Operations Departments on their toll violation enforcement program.

What does that mean? Pay the toll!

In a press release, SJTA Executive Director Stephen F. Dougherty says, "This important enforcement program is an initiative the SJTA pursues at various times throughout the year. It ensures those drivers who deliberately attempt to avoid paying the toll will be issued a summons on the spot. Because no state tax money is used to support ACE, it is important violators, especially those who intentionally and repeatedly avoid paying their toll, are identified and fined. The bottom-line is no one gets a free ride."

Doughtery says having State Troopers at various toll plazas will not only remind people that they have to pay, but it will also serve as a reminder to slow down through the toll plazas if you use EZ Pass.
