An attempted robbery and attack outside BJ's Wholesale Club in Stafford leads to the arrest of a suspect in Beach Haven.

Gustavo Javier Franco Carballo, 24 is being held in the Ocean County Jail on $150,000 bail, charged with armed robbery and burglary, with more charges likely, say Stafford police, who are seeking more information about the incident.

Police, who identified Carballo through surveillance images captured by surrounding businesses,, also allege that heis an undocumented immigrant. They have contacted the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement Agency (ICE) regarding his status.

According to police, on June 20 at about 8:16 PM, Carballo parked his 2007 PT Cruiser next to the vehicle belonging to his intended victim, waited until she transferred her purchases from a shopping cart, then climbed into the back of the car while she returned the cart to a stall in the lot.

When she slid into the front seat, Carballo choked her and tried to stun her with Taser, but she fought him away, left the car, and alerted witnesses while a 911 call was placed and Carballo fled, police said.

Lieutenant James Vaughn added that it was a random act.
