Stafford pedestrian accident victim dies, witnesses sought

The pedestrian hit by a car while crossing Route 72 in Stafford Township Thursday afternoon succumbed to injuries that resulted, according to township police.

The victim is identified as Dale Heinrichs, 64, of Stafford. Police said he was attempting to cross the highway at about mile marker 22.5 at 3:41 PM.

He ventured into the path of a westbound Chevrolet Impala driven by Marilyn Wenz, 79, also of Stafford, who had just exited Stafford Square, police said. He died at Atlanticare Medical Center in Atlantic City.

No charges have been filed but police still seek witnesses who can help them fill in details. They can be reached at 609-597-1189, extension 8436.
