Bouncing around a bit on Cinco de Mayo which feels more like Cinco de Marzo.

We have been in a simply awful weather pattern which clearly has been depressing and good only for our lawns.  We’re only three weeks away from Memorial Day weekend but summer seems like a long way off.  Here’s hoping the weather gods will soon shine brightly on us.

Yesterday I mentioned that John Kasich said he would stay in the Republican presidential primary until Donald Trump clinched the nomination but the Ohio governor came to his senses and bowed out of the race. Trump’s campaign now begins the process of vetting candidates to be his running mate and don’t be surprised if Kasich is on the list along with several high-profile women who are currently holding political office.

There’s always been that feeling that what California does eventually makes it way to the East Coast. .If that’s the case than there’s bad news for young smokers in New Jersey.  California Governor Jerry Brown signed a bill Wednesday that raises the legal age for purchasing tobacco products from 18 to 21 and that includes vaping products.

Among the bills signed was one that treats electronic cigarettes just like traditional ones so where ever cigarettes are banned so too will e-cigarettes. That includes restaurants, workplaces and other public areas.  You can expect demands for the same in New Jersey in about a year.

A year after American Pharaoh ended a long drought by winning horse racing’s Triple Crown, Nyquist is the 3-year old that would appear to have the best chance of making it back to back winners of the sport’s greatest achievement.  He is the early 3-1 favorite in Saturday’s Kentucky Derby and will face of field of 19 challengers.  Nyquist is named after Detroit Red Wings forward Gustav Nyquist because the horse’s owner is a diehard fan of the NHL team.
