RIDGEWOOD — A village resident found more than bills and magazines in their mailbox last week when they told police they saw a man put something less legal in their box.

Police say they got a call on April 15 from resident on Fairfield Avenue who saw what they described as a gray Ford Explorer parked outside and someone putting something into their mailbox.

The resident then went to see what had been put in their box and found a substance they believed was marijuana.

Capt. Forest Lyons told NorthJersey.com the incident was "very odd" and that "we don't have things like this a lot."

Lyons said it was possible the marijuana was intended to be sent to a different location.
