WANTAGE — Police continue to search for a man who robbed and stabbed a hiker on a Sussex County nature trail.

A man hiking on the Wood Duck Nature Trail inside the Wallkill River National Wildlife Refuge off Route 23 reported he was attacked about 2:30 p.m. Thursday by a man wearing a blue hooded sweatshirt, according to State Police Sgt. 1st Class Gregory Williams.

The injured man remained hospitalized with a non-life threatening injury, according to Williams, who only described the victim as being in his 20s. A more detailed description of the assailant wasn't available.

Wallkill is part of the National Wildlife Refuge Park located in the upper northwest corner of the state and extends into New York. The trail parallels both the Wallkill River and Route 23.
