I've heard different myths about food and I never know if it's true or not..well here are some answers that will maybe help from U.S. News & World Report.

Let's start with Bananas!

The Myth: Bananas are high in sugar and fattening.

The Facts:  Bananas are high in nutrients, including potassium, vitamin B-6, vitamin C and fiber.  And they're a no-fuss food, they can be frozen and used to make all kinds of things like smoothies, ice cream and muffins.

 

Detoxing your body

The Myth:  It is said to be great to put your body through a cleansing diet to get rid of toxins that build up.

The Facts:  Our kidneys and livers do a great job of cleansing our bodies on a daily basis...instead of doing a cleansing eat more fruit and vegetables, whole grains and water.

 

Eating late at night leads to weight gain.

The Myth:  Eating after 8 pm will pack on the pounds.

The Facts:  It's not when you eat, it's what you eat.  Depending on how much you eat may lead to weight gain.

 

GMO's are everywhere:

The Myth:  The genetically modified organism's (gmo's) are lurking everywhere in the grocery store.

The Facts:  GMO's are  found primarily in packaged food..and the only fresh fruits and vegetables that might contain GMO's are sweet corn, zucchini squash and papaya.  Check the labels.

 

If you eat fat, you'll get fat:

The Myth:  This is just a plain myth!

The Facts:  Certain fats are good for you.  Swap out the fats and load up with the good fats..there are bad and good.  Trade your mayonnaise and butter for oil and avocado.
