Snow causes the partial wall collapse of a Monmouth County church this afternoon. The Monmouth Police, Fire and EMS Facebook page reported that the incident occurred at the Living Word Church on Route 35 In Neptune Township.

Neptune Committeeman Randy Bishop says the incident was caused by melting snow sliding off the side of the building's dome roof and knocking down three feet of brick work on one side at around 3 pm. No one was inside the church at the time.

A contractor and engineer is assessing the damage and so far the building appears to be structurally sound, according to Bishop. The church will however, be closed for a period of time while repairs are being made.
