For the first five years I had a Mommy Blog about my daughter Abby’s life and what it was like for me as a first time Mommy.  Now she’s a 9 year old diva and I’ve decided to bring back the Mommy blog. Her life and what she does is just so funny, it’s too funny not to talk about or write about!  It’s time to share our adventures with you again.  Wow, I can't believe she's 9.  Time flies.

I've teamed up with Smart Start Academy on Rt. 9 in Toms River to do their craft of the month with Abby.  Smart Start Academy just celebrated Pirate Week...so let's do a pirate craft:

Pirate Hat and Pirate Hook Materials:

red construction paper
Styrofoam cup
white paint
black paint
paint brush
tin foil

Directions:
Draw a pirate hat shape on the red construction paper toward the top and cut it out. (save the bottom strip to use as a strap for around the child's head)
Using the white paint have the child put fingerprint dots on the pirate hat.
Let dry.
Staple the strap to the hat big enough for the child's head to fit.

Make a whole in the bottom of the Styrofoam cup.
Using the black paint, paint the Styrofoam cup black.
Let dry.
Take the foil and fold it into a hook shape.
Put it through the hole in the cup leaving some foil inside the cup so the child can hold onto it.

CLICK HERE for information on Smart Start Academy and find out all about their programs and of course that indoor playground!  It's really cool, especially when it's raining outside or it's too cold to go outside.
